Understanding your high-pile permit and what you need to do to comply can be a task in itself. There are too many factors and requirements you need to meet in order to pass the Fire Marshal’s inspection.
In all 50 states, warehouses that are storing over 12 feet high in an area of 500 square feet or more require a high-pile permit. While in some states the requirements are minimal, in states like California the requirements can be overwhelming and demanding.

PLAN REVIEW AND ADVISE – Before you sign the proposed plan that’s going to be submitted to the Fire Department, let’s do a walk-through and ensure that the rack layout and floor configurations meet the growing needs of your warehouse. This is very important because a resubmission is costly and time-consuming.
Once your High Piled Permit is sent to the fire department for approval, the layout you “signed off” on is what the fire marshals will approve at the time of inspection; any modifications to your warehouse “will” hinder your inspection approval.
